Eliminate Week

Next week, December 3rd through December 7th, High Point Key Club hopes that you will join us in support of the Eliminate Project.  Monday marks the start of Eliminate Week, an opportunity to raise awareness for the fight against neonatal tetanus throughout our world.  First we need to inform you, so here is the schedule.

Monday: Blue Ribbon Day- See one of the officers Monday morning to pick up a ribbon and remember to spread the word.

Tuesday: Baby Day- Yesterday it was ribbons, today it's baby dolls.  Sure, not too many people carry around baby dolls after 2nd grade, but soon enough the questions will be coming and you can spread the word about Eliminate.  Pick up your baby from Crystal that morning.

Wednesday: Wear Blue Day- Blue shirts, blue pants, blue socks, blue everything.  The bluer you are the better

Thursday: 1 Every 9- One baby dies every nine minutes of neonatal tetanus. Write it on your arms, on your books, on a t-shirt.  Spread the word.

Friday: Blue Ribbon Day 2- Finish the week off with blue ribbons, and volunteer to collect money for the Eliminate Project in lunches.

If you have any questions about the schedule contact one of the officers or post on this page or the Facebook page.  Also don't forget to buy an Eliminate bracelet from Mrs. Cerutti for $2 to show your support. Now you know, so start spreading the word and help Eliminate neonatal tetanus.

Living is So Big

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make all the difference, but when you add them all up living is so big.  Established in 2010 a life appreciation charity, Living is So Big, took up this idea and devoted its efforts to bullying and suicide prevention.
This Friday, October 26th Living is So Big and Key Club will be combining their efforts to bring this cause to Sussex County.  From 7:00-8:00 PM Sparta High School will be hosting a rally for students across the county, complete with musical performances by such bands as “Rewind the Crisis” and “Industry” and personal accounts from students and peers who have overcome these events themselves.  $1 is all it takes to show your support Friday night, a little price to celebrate just how big life really is. All proceeds from the event go to support the Living is So Big charity.
If you have any additional questions you can visit the event’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/LivingIsSoBig.org?fref=ts  or visit the Living is So Big page directly at http://livingissobig.com/.

Relentless Against Cancer: A Rally to Remember

Neighbors.  Friends.  Family.  All around us we see people we know and love battling cancer.  Diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in March of 2009, Nathan E Shatsoff was one of these people.  Yet, rather than focusing solely on his own condition, Nathan set out to make a difference in the lives of other cancer patients.  For this reason he founded Relentless Against Cancer, an organization that continues to aid those fighting cancer closest to us.

Now you and the entire High Point Key Club have an opportunity to help this life saving organization.  All it takes is one day, Saturday September 22nd from 10AM-4PM rain or shine at the Sussex County Fairgrounds.  Come and help out for a day of fun and a great cause.  If you are interested head to http://relentlessagainstcancer.org/events.php for more details.  We can make a difference and that starts with you.

Fall Rally

Who wants to go to Six-Flags!?!  What line could possibly be a better lead in for this year's fall rally.  Whether you've been in the past or hope to go for the first time, this event looks to be a great way to kick off a brand new school year of Key Club.  With an estimated 3000 Key Club members from across the state of New Jersey you'll gain a new knowledge of NJ Key Club, meet new friends, and of course ride some roller coasters.

For those of you who are interested this year's fee is only $35!  That's almost half of the regular admission fee of $62.99!  As for the date, this rally will occur on Sunday October 7th, but make sure to get your paperwork and money in on time (postmarked by September 25th).

If you are interested and want to find out more go to http://www.njkeyclub.org/fallrally.php .  Here you can find additional information, as well as the necessary forms.  Hope to see you all there.

Key Club 2012-2013 Welcome Back

On behalf of HP Key Club we would like to welcome everyone back as the new school year begins.  We're sure you've all kept yourselves busy over the simmer, and we're proud to say the entire K-family has as well.  We would like to say a special thank you to all those who came to the Sussex-County Fair and pitched in at the Kiwanis and Relentless Against Cancer booths.

Now onto the new school year and new business.  Our first meeting will be on Monday September 10th directly after school in room 333.  Bring yourself and a friend to hear about Key Club's purpose and plans for this year, and don't worry there will be snacks too.  If you have any questions about  the club or just want to check it out this meeting is meant for you.

Finally, look forward to this year's officer team, a group with new ideas and plans to continue Key Club's growth at High Point and in the community.

Thank You! - Yard Sale

A tremendous thank you to everyone who helped out with the Memorial Day Weekend yard sale. Thanks to your time, donations, and hard work this event was a fantastic success. The counts are in, and over the course of the weekend Key Club raised a whopping $246.86 for the American Cancer Society, money that will truly make a difference. Additionally, proceeds from the bake sale, directly benefitting Key Club, totaled $88.01. Thanks to everyone for all your hard work and service, we look forward to building on this success in the future.

Kiss a Senior Goodbye

$1!  That's all it takes to send a kiss to any High Point senior this Friday June 1st.  So here's where we need you.  In lunches Tuesday May 29th through Thursday May 31st Key Club members will collect money from anyone wishing to send 3 hershey kisses to a senior in homeroom on Friday.  Once a student pays they can fill out a personal note to the senior that will also be delivered with the candy.  Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to HP Key Club, so talk to your friends and make sure to ask everyone if they would like to send a kiss to a senior this Friday.

Relay for Life Yardsale

Date: May 26th and 27th
Time: Saturday: 9AM-4PM     Sunday: 11AM- 3PM
NOTE: NO SHOES OR CLOTHES WILL BE ACCEPTED AS DONATIONS

In a continued effort to give all we can to Relay for Life, this year High Point's Key Club will be holding its first yardsale.  Proceeds from this event will help further our contribution to Relay for Life, which accepts donations even after the event.  Planning for the sale has already been worked out, but now for the most important part, WE NEED YOU!!!

So what can you do?  Well, first we need items for the yard sale (But remember NO CLOTHES OR SHOES.)  Donation will be accepted the week of May 21st up until Friday the 25th.  A bin will be placed in the main hallway of the school if you wish to drop off items there, or if it is more convient they can be dropped off directly at Crystal's house where the items will be stored.  (NOTE: do not randomly show up at your VPs home, a heads up to coordinate a drop off is of the upmost importance)  Being that this is where the items will be stored, pricing of items will occur there on May 25th and volunteers would be much appreciated.

As for the actual sale, it will occur on Saturday and Sunday from 9-4 and 11-3 respectively.  Signups for setup, cleanup, and sale shifts will be occuring at the upcoming meetings, and it would be great if everyone could pitch in.  We understand that some people may be busy during the long weekend, but any form of help is always appreciated.  In addition to the yard sale, a bake sale will be occuring to raise funds for Key Club itself, and if everyone could bake at least one item it is sure to be an easy success.

So there it is, just about everything there is to a yardsale.  We hope you can come out and lend your support; through donations, organizing, or running the sale itself.  This is sure to be a great success if we all work together, so let's all get started and make a difference.
